Head End System( HES )

The iESLab-HES product is designed as COTS(commercially off the shelf ) product, which is ready made and available for sale, lease, or license to any System Integrator which can be fine-tuned to the requirements of customers. The product can be customized to suit the requirement of customer without making any architectural changes in the product and have a clear roadmap as a product.

The main functions of HES is to establish communication with the meter, maintain the communication status of the meter, and acquire data from the meter and for MDMS analysis and statistics. Including the main functions such as Clock synchronization, Data acquisition, Data Encryption, Data Recruitment, Parameter configure, Firmware upgrade, Meter connect and disconnect. etc.

Some of the basic functions are detailed listed as follows:

Terminal Management

Terminal parameter management mainly refers to terminal debugging, which means that the information required to be configured varies from one terminal type to another. The system shall, based on the type of terminal, be able to provide parameter editing and issuing functions, including the unit type, production batch, code type, channel configuration, meter reading parameter setting, communication parameter setting, address setting, electric meter measuring point setting, terminal control command and others of the terminal, and it shall be able to save the information that has been set into the database for query and spot comparison.

Meter Management

Meter management mainly refers to the function to manage meter parameters and execute meter control commands, and information required to be configured varies from one meter type to another.

The system shall be able to provide such functions as parameter editing, issuing and acquisition as well as the issuance of meter control commands, including rate and period information, electricity price information, time information, remote tripping and closing command and so on. It shall also be able to save the information that has been set into the database for inquiry and spot comparison.

Data Collection

The system can be used to collect data of terminals via communication protocol (DLMS). Through the setting and management of a variety of tasks, the unified automatic collection (batch collection) of real time data and historical data of users' electric meters as well as the unified manual collection of real time data and historical data of power utilization can be conducted through data collection (single acquisition and batch collection are also supported). It includes the sub-functions likes:

● Collection Task Compilation

The system shall have the configuration function for collection task compilation, where the content of task includes task execution time, data collection item, collection cycle and so on. Inquiry function shall be provided after task configuration.

● Collection Quality Inquiry

The system can provide additional data collection function for failed collection tasks and can allow to check the success rate of task collection.

● Data Acquisition

It means the manual collection of the real time data, historical data or events of terminal as well as that of the real time data and historical data of electric meter.

Equipment Upgrade

The system supports the remote firmware upgrade of the device, and it shall be equipped with a visual operation interface for the remote upgrade of firmware, through which users can choose the device to upgrade with upgrade files before making upgrade operation. After successful firmware upgrade, the upgraded version number can be saved automatically for the convenience of later data maintenance. The function allows for single or batch operation of devices.

Data Validation Analysis

The system provides data validation mechanism to make a test analysis of the collected basic data according to corresponding data validation rules, and the abnormal data can be filtered out and marked correspondingly. Users can check the abnormal information through data inquiry module to provide basis for later data exception handling.
